The Aqueduct of Vanvitelli, also known as the Caroline Aqueduct, is a 38 km long aqueduct built to supply the Reggia di Caserta and the San Leucio complex. It was commissioned by Charles of Bourbon and designed by Luigi Vanvitelli. The aqueduct is of particular architectural value due to the perfectly preserved 529-metre-long section in tufa bridging the Valle di Maddaloni. It is made of three rows of arches, 55.8 metres high at its highest point. The aqueduct is a World Heritage Site and a marvel of architecture and engineering.
